Hartz UltraGuard Ear Mite Treatment for Dogs is designed to provide relief for canines suffering from ear mites. Dogs affected by these parasites will typically exhibit symptoms such as frequent head shaking and ear scratching. Ear mites reside within the animal's ear canal, leading to the accumulation of a brownish, waxy debris.

To detect the presence of ear mites, a small amount of the waxy buildup can be placed on a dark surface, allowing the viewer to observe the movement of tiny white specks separating from the debris. More severe conditions, such as inflamed, watery or blocked ear canals, should be addressed by a veterinarian.

This product is not recommended for use on puppies younger than 12 weeks old. Pet owners should consult a veterinarian before administering the treatment to debilitated, aged, pregnant or nursing animals, as well as those currently taking medication.

Caution should be exercised to avoid contact with the eyes. Sensitivities may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity develop, the pet should be bathed with a mild soap and rinsed thoroughly with large amounts of water. If the symptoms persist, a veterinarian should be consulted immediately.

To effectively kill ear mites, the user should follow these steps:

1. Remove one applicator tube from the package and hold it in an upright position.
2. Pull off the cap and turn it around, placing it on top of the tube.
3. Press the cap down to break the seal of the tube and carefully remove the cap.
4. Position the tip of the tube at the base of the pet's ear. Firmly hold the pet and fill each ear canal with the recommended number of drops (see dosage guidelines below).
5. Massage the base of the ear to ensure the insecticidal action penetrates the ear wax.
6. Gently dry the ear using a cotton ball, soft cloth or cotton swab.
7. After application, invert the cap of the tube and snap it back on for easy closure.

Dosage guidelines: - 5-15 lbs: 4-5 drops per day, per ear - 16-30 lbs: 5-10 drops per day, per ear - 30 lbs and over: 10-15 drops per day, per ear

If the condition for which this product was used persists or an irritation develops, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian. This treatment may be applied daily for 7 to 10 days. Repeat the treatment in two weeks if necessary.
